Reflective Material Selection Guide
Choose reflective material by the garment substrate, attachment method, laundering process and required performance. isafetylite supplies several material ranges; a feature or test result for one model should not be assumed to apply to every model.
Compare reflective material ranges
| Material range | Selection context | Information to request |
|---|---|---|
| Reflective fabric | Sew-on garment and workwear applications | Backing, flexibility, reflective performance and laundering procedure |
| Heat-transfer reflective tape | Attachment with heat and pressure; continuous, segmented or stretch formats | Substrate compatibility, temperature, pressure, dwell time, peeling and wash test |
| Flame-retardant reflective tape | Protective clothing requiring flame-performance evaluation | Exact model, backing, flame test, attachment method and garment requirements |
| Industrial-wash reflective material | Workwear repeatedly cleaned through an industrial laundry process | Test procedure, wash temperature, detergent, drying method and cycle count |
| Industrial-wash FR reflective tape | Workwear requiring both flame-performance evaluation and industrial laundering | Flame report and wash report for the same model; garment construction and laundry process |
| Colourful reflective materials | Garment colour and decoration requirements, including gold fabric and film | Physical colour sample, backing, application format and retroreflective test conditions |
What is the difference between sew-on and heat-transfer reflective tape?
Sew-on reflective tape is attached by stitching. Heat-transfer reflective tape is applied with heat and pressure. Choose the format for the actual garment fabric and production process, then evaluate a sample using the selected model’s instructions.
Does reflective tape automatically make a garment compliant?
A reflective material test report does not by itself certify a finished garment. Garment compliance also depends on the applicable standard, garment design, reflective area and other construction requirements. Request the current report for the exact material model and the relevant standard edition.
How should wash durability be compared?
Compare wash durability only when the test conditions are stated. The same cycle count can describe different wash temperatures, detergents and drying methods. Specify the intended laundry process and request a matching model-specific test report.
Information to include in a sample or quotation request
- Material range, width and required quantity.
- Garment fabric, stretch requirements and intended use.
- Sew-on or heat-transfer attachment method.
- Wash temperature, detergent, drying method and required cycles.
- Applicable flame-performance or visibility requirements.
- The model’s technical data, application instructions and current test reports.

Source and scope
This guide summarises the material ranges shown on the linked isafetylite product pages. Company information is available on the Anhui Shuoming Safety Technology company page. It does not add independent laboratory results, cycle-count guarantees or certification claims. Confirm product specifications in the selected model’s documentation.
